For the two weeks surrounding the 19th May (the date of the wedding), Best Western has seen an 11% increase in bookings from the USA, with royal fans flocking to see their fellow American marry Prince Harry.

This has been accompanied by a 27% year-on-year increase in the number of searches on for UK destinations.

Inland holidays at British B&Bs are set to surge this year, with forward bookings for the summer already up 10.3%, according to the quarterly National B&B Index, published today by eviivo.

Data gathered from more than 6,000 B&Bs nationwide by online booking specialists eviivo, shows that the so-called ‘sunlit uplands’ are the most popular choice for holidaymakers.
